FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a ticket?

No! Admission and parking are free, and everyone is welcome.

What time should I arrive to see the sunrise launch?

We recommend arriving early so you have time to park, get situated, and enjoy the excitement as pilots and crews prepare for flight. Balloons typically launch around sunrise, weather permitting.

Will the balloons launch every morning?

Not always. Ballooning is weather dependent, and safety is always the top priority. Wind, visibility, and other conditions are carefully evaluated each morning before any decision to inflate or launch is made.

What is a Night Glow?

The Night Glow is a crowd favorite, featuring anchored hot air balloons illuminated in choreographed bursts of light and color set to music. It’s a unique opportunity to experience the balloons up close after dark and enjoy a spectacular evening at Prosser Airport.

Can I bring my pet?

Because balloon burners can be loud and the event can be crowded, we recommend leaving pets at home when possible. Service animals are always welcome.

Can I walk on the field?

Yes. Guests are welcome on the launch field to watch balloon crews prepare and experience the excitement up close. Please keep in mind that the field is part of a working airfield and has rough or uneven terrain in some areas. If you need assistance during the event, please reach out to a board member or volunteer, who will be happy to help.

What accessibility accommodations are available?

The launch field is part of a working airfield and has rough or uneven terrain in some areas. If you need assistance during the event, please reach out to a board member or volunteer, who will be happy to help.

Can I buy a balloon ride at the rally?

No. The Great Prosser Balloon Rally does not sell balloon rides during the event. If you’re interested in a balloon ride experience, Prosser is home to several balloon pilots who can accommodate paid rides at other times throughout the year.

What should I bring?

Dress in warm layers, wear comfortable closed-toe shoes, and don’t forget your camera. Early mornings on the field can be cool, even in summer.

Will food and rally merchandise be available?

Yes. Coffee vendors will be on the field during sunrise launches, and food and beverage vendors will be available during the Saturday Night Glow. Official rally merchandise will be available throughout rally activities and at Prosser’s Harvest Festival downtown.

Can I take photos of the balloons?

Absolutely! We love seeing the rally through your lens. Please stay behind safety barriers, respect balloon equipment and fabric, and avoid using flash or bright lights during early morning launch preparations.

How do I submit a photo for the photo contest?

We’d love to see your rally photos! Keep an eye on the Great Prosser Balloon Rally Facebook page for contest rules, deadlines, and submission details.

Is the rally family-friendly?

Yes. The rally is a free, family-friendly event. Please keep children close around vehicles, balloon equipment, ropes, and active crew areas.

Where do the Rally events take place?

Sunrise launches and the Saturday Night Glow are held at Prosser Airport. Additional community activities, including Prosser’s Harvest Festival, take place downtown throughout the weekend.
